Summary:
An Austrian producer of mobile solar power stations is seeking to combine them with a water treatment system. The system should be compatible with the frame of the solar array and use a modular design. It needs to be adjustable to different contamination levels and sources, eventually providing drinking water for up to 500 people. The company is looking for partners with modular water treatment systems for manufacturing/technical cooperations or commercial agreements with technical assistance.
Details:
Solar systems can provide a feasible and efficient alternative to conventional means of electricity sources. However, mobility and flexibility of such systems are often a factor that hinder more widespread application, especially compared to diesel generators.
Therefore, the Austrian company has developed a mobile solar plant which can provide 3kW of electrical power at 230 V. The plant features 11kWh of battery storage which, under densely clouded conditions, can provide 3 kW for three hours straight. The mobile unit is trailer mounted and can be transported to any location. Its main use is currently in agriculture for the long-term irrigation of field-crops.
Upon request the company now looks into the possibility of combining the mobile solar power unit with a water treatment system. The sought system should be based on a modular design which fits well into the frame of the solar unit. It should also allow the removal and easy exchange of certain modules (e.g. pH adjustment, adsorption, filtration, disinfection etc.) depending on the treatment needs. The water treatment system thereby should be flexible enough to be adjusted easily according to contamination levels and households that need to be supplied.
The company has already received expressions of interest from Nigeria and Egypt. The water treatment technology therefore needs to meet low maintenance requirements and should be serviceable by local technicians with limited access to specialised tools or spare parts.
Type and Role of Partners Sought:
The Austrian company is currently searching for partners which
- have already developed modular drinking water solutions
- are interested in running them with a mobile solar-power plant
- are willing to adjust and modify their technology to the setup of the solar-trailer
- preferably have some experience in developing-country contexts.
The company is open to all types of partnerships focused on joint research and product development. The individual roles of the partners can be discussed accordingly.
