Videos flood our life, high resolution displays are everywhere, but still we often end up with low quality images due to poor transmission.
The video compression solution developed by the French university is a set of three methods that dramatically reduce video storage and bandwidth while maximizing perceived video quality:
- Removal of variations arising from pixel pitches. This substantially eliminates the need to correct for random variations in the movements.
- Estimation of motion vectors of objects or scenes from one image to the other, with a fast and accurate solution.
- Coding method of the field of motion vectors for a better accuracy versus the usable bandwidth relationship.
The 3 methods of video compression respectively save:
- an average of 20 – 40% of the compression ratio
- At least 20% bandwidth
- At least 50% storage cost between 73 – 90% artifact effect compared to competing coding methods.
Overall, it exceeds existing methods for an initial file of 422 Mo (mega octets) with a noise of 7,8 dB (decibels).
