Summary:
A Greek SME is looking for technology partners with web application development expertise to create a small demonstrator platform that allows the mixing of documented and rights-free (Public Domain) or open licensed material from various sources. The content will be used to create teaching material in a flexible fashion that fits the teaching objectives and syllabus of secondary education. A technical cooperation agreement or a commercial agreement with technical cooperation is envisaged.
Details:
The project concerns an intuitive technological platform to create cultural narratives for the educational sector. It will make use of content readily available under open licensing schemes (i.e. Creative Commons or Public Domain) through digital repositories such as Europeana. The aim of the users is to create new stories that will be shared across social networks.
The SME from Greece is looking for technological partners to develop an application that will focus on three modules:
1. Narrative generator
An interactive web tool to support story-telling using multiple data sources using as a template baseline one of the following options:
(a) Maps
(b) Time
(c) Narrative
2. Open repository
Data mashing to openly accessible content from sources like Wikipedia, wikicommons, wikisource, Flickr, Europeana.
3. Annotator module
Content will be edited or annotated by each user (e.g. add text, remove part of a picture, add music, cut a video, etc.)
The software will offer a different usage environment, custom-made to needs of specific user-groups (namely teachers and students) and will be able to be used in different languages.
The SME will provide use case scenarios and further information in order to finalize the architecture of the application. The technology partner will undertake the development of the application through a technical cooperation agreement or a commercial agreement with technical cooperation.
The envisaged duration for the development of the project is 3-5 months.
