英文原文:A Spanish university has developed a new method for detecting the administration of exogenous estradiol in cattle. The method is based on the detection of a small dipeptide in the animals' serum. This method could be one of the first unambiguous methods to distinguish endogenous and exogenous origin of estradiol. The university is open to reach technical cooperation and licence agreements. Administration of hormonal compounds as growth promoters in livestock farming was banned by Council Directive 93/22/EC. However, these kinds of substances are sometimes reported within the framework of European monitoring residue plans. Various analytical methods have been previously developed to screen for their misuse, and they are now especially efficient for monitoring the illegal administration of synthetic and semi-synthetic hormones. Nevertheless, proving an exogenous administration of hormones from natural origin (i.e. estradiol-17β or progesterone) still remains a challenging task for European authorities. This new marker allows the detection of an illegal administration of estradiol in animals, especially in cattle. Current analytical methods are generally efficient for detection of synthetic steroids. However, they do not allow the detection of misuse associated with natural hormones, since these are naturally produced by food producing animals. Thus, this could be one of the first unambiguous methods to distinguish endogenous and exogenous origin of a natural hormone. - The marker is a small dipeptide that can be detected by different techniques such as GC/LC-MS (Gas Chromatography/ Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry) or immunoassays such as ELISA.
